Islamabad: A one-week training program for the newly appointed Qazis by High Court of Balochistan kicked off at the Federal Judicial Academy on Wednesday. The course is part of the pre-service training already being conducted for them by the Balochistan Judicial Academy. Fifteen undertraining Qazis, two of them being ladies, are undergoing this one judicial education program.
Addressing the participants at the inaugural session, the Director General FJA, Mr. Hayat Ali Shah, advised the course participants to "equip” themselves with “armors of knowledge and integrity”. He stated that “the Academy builds your character through knowledge and wisdom and you should build your knowledge and understanding of information by paying attention and proactively participating in the class.” He reminded the participants that the job of a judge is not only a sacred one but is also a tight-rope walk in which they would have to assume a strong character and protect their honor and integrity with sound knowledge, propriety and diligence.
It is also mentionable that it is for the first time in the history of FJA that the opening recitation from the verses of the Holy Quran at the inaugural session was done by a lady participant, Qazia Mrs. Durdana Kakar.
Noted scholars, judicial educators, trainers, and subject specialists have been invited as honourable resource persons to elucidate on carefully selected topics. Apart from the permanent faculty of the FJA, prominent resource persons include Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Munir, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Wali, Judge Niaz Muhammad Khan, and Dr. Shaukat Ali.
Exposure visits to Court No.1 of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and to the Police Academy Sihala that will focus on forensics and appreciation of evidence have also been arranged for the trainees.
