Workshop on International Labour Standards for Labour Court Judges in Pakistan in collaboration with ILO begins at FJA Islamabad: A two-day workshop on International Labour Standards for Labour Court Judges in Pakistan in collaboration with the International Labour Organization was launched at the Federal Judicial Academy on February 22, 2021. While presenting his welcome-note in the inaugural session of the workshop, Director General of the Academy Mr. Hayat Ali Shah commended the cooperation of International Labour Organization (ILO) for this workshop on ISL for Labour Court Judges. Regarding the ISL, he said, International labour law is a highly valuable resource for Labour Court Judges and lawyers seeking to settle labour disputes. For this workshop, we have resource persons/ consultants of intentional repute to train the participants in using international labour law to resolve domestic disputes. I hope that this workshop which covers very important topics such as, International Labour Standards and Best Practices, Perspective of the Courts ( ILS and LDR), How ILO supervises ILS- Pakistan Perspective , among others, will be very useful for the participants who are senior Judicial officers and Judges of Labour Courts from across Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ingrid Christensen, Country Director, ILO-Pakistan the demand for training in International Labour Standards (ISL) is growing day by day. In order to meet this demand, the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO), in collaboration with the International Labour Standards Department, has been conducting training courses for judges, lawyers, legal and judicial educators since 1999. We appreciate the Federal Judicial Academy to approach the ILO –Pakistan to arrange this two days workshop for Judges of Labour Courts and members of National Relations Commission ( NIRC). The Country Director, ILO-Pakistan also shed light on the launching of Self-Learning Resources. A total of 19 Labour Court Judges and NIRC Members attend this two days workshop at the Academy.
