Justice Sana Akram Minhas

Justice Ms. Sana Akram Minhas was elevated as a judge of the High Court of Sindh on 14 April 2023.

She received her education at St. Joseph's Convent School and St. Joseph's College, Karachi, where she earned a BA. She undertook her legal studies at SM Law College, Karachi, obtaining an LLB, and furthered them at King's College London, United Kingdom, where she completed her LLM as a Britannia Chevening Scholar. Notably, she was one of the select few to be also awarded a Britannia Premier Award, which recognized candidates with outstanding academic records who are expected to make a significant impact upon return to their country.

Justice Minhas began her legal career at the office of Mr. Naim-ur-Rahman, Barrister, focusing on environmental and building matters. She contributed to landmark building cases such as Multilines, Glass Towers, and Costa Livina. She assisted (late) Mr. Khalid M. Ishaque, Senior Advocate in the riba (interest) case before the Supreme Court Appellate Bench and worked alongside (late) Mr. Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, Senior Advocate in the Mirza Mehboob Baig (evacuee property claim) case on behalf of the Government of Sindh. For over a decade, she practiced as a senior litigation lawyer at Fazleghani Advocates, where she was the most senior litigator after Mr. Makhdoom Ali Khan, Senior Advocate and former Attorney General for Pakistan, handling cases both independently and assisting him. She has the distinction of being appointed amicus curiae at a remarkably young age by the Senior Puisne Judge of the Sindh High Court at that time.

Prior to her elevation, Justice Minhas was one of the few female independent practitioners in civil and commercial litigation, appearing before the High Court of Sindh in Karachi and the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
