Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan

Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan is Director General of Legal Aid and Justice Authority (LAJA), Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan. Before joining LAJA, he was serving as the Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan in the Supreme Court, Pakistan. Mr. Awan is a highly committed foreign qualified PhD (Law) and conducted extensive research and wrote his thesis on 'Protection of Foreign Direct Investment ("FDI") in Pakistan. He has 22 years' national & international diverse experience of working in high profile executive positions in government, semi government, educational institutes and private sector having proven track record of high level admiration, gratification and recognition of senior management for revolutionizing, reforming, setting performance agreements and effectively accomplishing the tasks within fixed timeframe by applying practical and must do approach, novel ideas, personal motivation, dedication and integrity as a team leader being head of the secretariat, directorate and organization.

He has been Project Director "Mediation and Human Rights Training and ADR Centre" Since June 2023. Recognising his professional skills, expertise and academic contributions, the President of Pakistan has nominated Dr. Awan as the member Senate of the COMSATS University in 21s July 2023. Dr Awan has also been head, convener and Key Contributor of the Special Committees on Illegal Human Organ Transplant, Creation of Water Secure Pakistan, Air Passengers' Rights, Prison Reforms, Education Policy, trans-genders' Rights, Police Reforms and Urban Policing, Occupational Safety and Health Laws, Commercialization of Stem Cells, Matter regarding Aids victims etc. He is also an author of several published articles about constitutional and international commercial and investment matters highlighting the number of legal issues under national and international law.

His achievements include but are not limited to contribute and execute the decisions of as the Secretary Governing Body Access to Justice Development Fund, Secretary Provincial Justice Committees (PJCs) of all four provinces and Federal Capital Islamabad, Secretary National Judicial Automation Committee and successfully translating the decisions of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC) into reality being its secretary by arranging specialized training programs for the judicial officers, prosecutors and court staff for establishing Gender Based Violation Courts (GBV).
