Ms. Fauzia Viqar
Ms. Fauzia Viqar is an expert on women's rights and empowerment recognized widely in Pakistan and globally. She serves as the Federal Ombudsperson against harassment in Pakistan where she is mandated with redress against harassment as well as protection of property rights of women in the Islamabad capital territory.
As the founding Chairperson of the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women, she led policy and legislative reform to eliminate discrimination/violence against women and placed gender equality and female empowerment at the core of government processes. She has advised large Governance Programs across Pakistan to support government and international organizations including UN agencies. Ms. Viqar has contributed to development of a culture of gender disaggregated data collection for evidence informed policy making in Pakistan through the Gender MISs and surveys to understand women's status. She has also worked abroad to eliminate racism and gender discrimination as an Advisor to the Government of Ontario. She has served on many non-profit, public sector and corporate Boards.
